Our New Year’s Lunch will be held on Wednesday, 17th January in the Armagh City Hotel.
A four-course lunch has been booked, and your choice of menu will be taken at the table on the day. Anybody with special dietary requirements should indicate them on the letter posted out with details of the event and contact Eleanor at email@example.com
We meet at 12 noon in the reception area of the Conference Centre.
Our next walk, weather permitting, will be Thursday, December 14th. It is a nice scenic walk in Kilbroney Forest Park, lasting about 2.5 hours, all on good clean forest tracks, finishing down a lovely river track. The cafe in Kilbroney is closed for renovations so we are having lunch in The Old Schoolhouse restaurant in Rostrevor.
The December wine evening will be next Wednesday, 13th, meeting at 7pm in Audrey’s house .
Caroline and I will give a chat and produce some wine.
Every one is welcome (there will be no restriction on numbers as a on off before christmas).
Please let me know if you wish to attend as we have to know the numbers.

The F. E. McWilliams gallery in Banbridge is organising some pottery workshops for which we hope to get an ABC grant and topped up by our Friends funds.
The proposal is to make lots of flax flowers in ceramic which will be installed in the gallery garden next year for the 10th anniversary. The “Weeping Poppies” from London are the inspiration for this idea. It will be on view in Belfast this autumn.
The workshops will be for all sorts of groups and we thought U3A might like to be included.
We would like to offer 12 people a chance to take part in 2 separate workshops, one for making and one for decorating. This would introduce anyone to the art of clay pottery.
The workshops will take place just outside Banbridge at a pottery run by Trevor Woods, at Mount Ida pottery on the Dromore Road.
If you are interested let a member of the committee know a final list will be compiled at the general meeting on 18th October. If less than 12 maybe another group might join yours, for example the theatre group or another.
The workshops are likely to take place early in 2018 to be installed in the summer.
The family history group normally meet once a month on the second Wednesday in the month at 11:30 am in the Irish and Local Studies Library, Abbey Street, Armagh.
The convener for the group is Richard Burns, if you wish to contact him e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
The Italian Language group meet on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and run to 12:00 p.m. in the U3A Office. The convenor is Pat Kelly.
Our next General Meeting will be on 20th December 2017, and it will take the form of a fun quiz. We will meet slightly earlier at 10:45 a.m. Hot punch and mince pies will be served on arrival.
The general meeting is normally held on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the County Armagh Golf Club. The meetings begin with an opportunity for tea/coffee and a catch up, then a short talk on a topic of interest, followed by the business of the meeting, news of group events and associated arrangements.
The main exceptions are in January and July, in January we normally have our New Year’s lunch and in July we take a summer break.
The bridge group normally meets each Monday afternoon in the Golf Club from 2:00 to 4:30pm.
There are both experienced players and beginners.
The convener for the group is Patricia McConville – 028 3889 1247
