Family History

The Family History group meets on Wednesdays at 2:30 in the Irish and Local Studies Library, all welcome. There is no meeting in December but we will resume on January 9th, 2019

Walking Group – Castlewellan

Our next walk will be in Castlewellan
We’ll go round the lake, along Cypress Pond Walk and up to Moorish Tower. A few hills now to keep us fit – the boundary walk up to the Mountain Lake and the viewpoint at Slievenaslat.

Time for lunch.

We’ll visit the Annesley Gardens before returning to cars. 

About 3.5 hours.

General Meeting – please note change of venue

The next general meeting will be held on the 20th March at 11:00 a.m. in the Cardinal O’Fiaich Memorial Library and Archive.  Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be available  from 10:30 a.m. The speaker will be our own Mary McVeigh who will be talking about Women and the Vote.  Access to the Library is from the Moy Road entrance which is just after the pedestrian crossing.

The general meeting is normally held on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the County Armagh Golf Club with Tea/Coffee served from around 10:30 a.m. The meetings begin with an opportunity for tea/coffee and a catch up, then a short talk on a topic of interest, followed by the business of the meeting, news of group events and associated arrangements.

The main exceptions are in January and July, in January we normally have our New Year’s lunch and in July we take a summer break.

Walking Soles Programme

The Walking Soles Group meet at the Palace Grounds Car Park to depart at 10:00 a.m. to arrange transport.

Cycling Group – resumes on 28th march at scarva pod

Cycling recommences on Thursday 28th March.

We will meet at 9.15am at Scarva Pod and cycle to either Newry or P’down for coffee. Cycling will continue every fortnight from that date – alternating with U3A walking – and a “Round Robin” e-mail will go out to the cycle group informing them of the particular Pod venue of future outings.
